2 Chronicles 5 - Uncontrollable Excitement

Updated: Feb 12, 2021

“And the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.” 1 Chronicles 5:14

The other day I read a simple statement that registered with my heart. “How excited are you about serving the Lord today?” Now please don’t just process this sentence and then simply move on with your day, really ponder it. What gets you excited today? What is it that you look forward to with zeal, fervor, and enthusiasm? I think if we’re honest, few would rank serving God and serving others in this category. Yet today in 2 Chronicles chapter 5 we see a celebration of God from a people that were truly excited to do so. We see Solomon finishing the amazing new temple of God and as a result, the final piece is moved in, the ark of Almighty God. We see singing, praising, music, thanksgiving, a feast, and so many sacrifices “they could not be counted or numbered.” A real party, and it was all for God. God was the center, God was the reason, God was the inspiration, and all because God sat at the center of their hearts. They were excited to serve, worship, praise, and know God because of simply who He was. “For He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever.” (5:13) Today don’t see serving, worshiping, praising, and learning more about God as a chore, a duty, or a task, but instead see it as what it is…a privilege, an honor and a joy. He first loved us, He sent His only Son to die for us, He redeems our souls to be in eternity with Him. God is so worthy…get excited about serving God today!
