“Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.” 2 Chronicles 9:7
How happy are you today? Are you satisfied with the life you’re living? Are you truly jumping for joy as you walk the path before you? We catch up with Solomon again in chapter 9 of 2 Chronicles and he is entertaining a very important guest, the Queen of Sheba. The tales of Solomon’s wisdom and riches were spreading like wildfire around the world and many important foreign dignitaries were coming to Jerusalem to witness it for themselves. And beyond the piles of gold, silver, jewels, and wealth, the queen notes something that should give us pause. She noticed the emotional and spiritual satisfaction of the people. They were happy. And not a happy that just flies under the radar, but a joy filled satisfaction in life that made a huge impression on her. Enough that it made it all the way into God’s Word. The people served Solomon and He was full of Godly wisdom. In his God-gifted wisdom he was righteous, just, full of mercy, and exhibited grace. It’s easy to be joy-filled and happy serving such a king. Whom are you serving today? If you’re serving yourself, your happiness will be fleeting. If you’ve made another person your king, they will only fail you as a perfectly just and fair king. But there is a perfect king, one that is perfect in loving you, perfect in providing for you and perfect in guiding you in His wisdom. King Jesus. Serving Jesus, serving a Savior that loves, gives, listens, blesses, and enriches, is the perfect recipe for happiness, joy, peace, and freedom in this world today. I pray today that you are walking a path that is blanketed in worship and praise of Christ. That in this walk you are happy, joyous, and free. For you see, God never meant walking in this world to be a drudgery; a monotonous travail for us. He meant it to be rich, rewarding and gratifying. And the only way to claim true joy filled happiness in this life each and every day is to follow the right king...King Jesus.
